I. Physical and Chemical Properties of DOTP
DOTP chemical name: Di(2-ethylhexyl) terephthalate, abbreviated as DOP, molecular formula: C24H3804, properties: light yellow transparent oily liquid or colorless transparent oily liquid, melting point 30℃, boiling point 400℃, miscible with water, viscosity 63mPa.s(25℃), 5mPa.s(100℃), 410mPa.s(0℃), freezing point -48℃, ignition point 399℃. Industry quality standard: transparent oily liquid appearance, no suspended matter; ester content>99.0%; Density (20℃), 0.981-0.986g/cm3; Acidity (calculated as phthalic ACID) < 0.015; flash point >210℃; Chromaticity (platinum-cobalt) number < 50; Heating loss < 0.1%.
II. DOTP production process
DOTP production process theoretically has the following three processes: 1. Direct esterification method: direct esterification of terephthalic acid PTA and octanol in the presence of a catalyst. This process is currently the mainstream process in the industry, with simple process and stable yield. 2. Transesterification method: Dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) or polyethylene terephthalate waste materials are subjected to transesterification with octanol in the presence of a catalyst. Polyester, as a general-purpose plastic, has been widely used in various packaging materials. In recent years, the consumption of polyester has increased rapidly, and the amount of discarded polyester has also increased. Due to its strong chemical inertness, it is difficult to be degraded by air or microorganisms. DOTP made from waste polyester has the advantages of easy availability of raw materials, simple production process, low cost and high yield. The product can meet the standards of superior grade products, which can not only alleviate the shortage of PTA, but also turn waste into treasure, with dual benefits of economy and environmental protection. Using waste polyester to produce DOTP is one of the most effective ways to recycle and utilize waste polyester. 3. Acyl chloride alcoholysis method: perform alcoholysis reaction on terephthaloyl chloride and octanol. Due to the high price of benzoyl chloride, this scheme has theoretical value but low industrial application value.
Third, DOTP terminal uses DOTP has good electrical and thermal properties, and also has excellent compatibility, which can be used for plasticizing acrylonitrile derivatives, polyvinyl butyral, rubber, nitrocellulose, and other materials. It can be used as a softener in rubber, neoprene, ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber and other products. It is particularly used in cable materials with good plasticizing effect and low volatility, and is widely used in various products requiring heat resistance and high insulation. It is an ideal Plasticizer for producing 70°C temperature-resistant cable materials and other PVC products requiring volatility resistance.
