The decline of production scale affects the operating rate

As a reinforcing agent and filler in the production of rubber, carbon black can improve the physical properties such as strength and wear resistance of rubber. Since 2015, China's carbon black output has shown a continuous growth momentum. In 2019, the national carbon black output was 5.75 million tons, a new high at this stage. In 2020, due to the shortage of raw materials, the shortage of raw materials and the drop in demand, the domestic carbon black industry started to operate at about 60%, the capacity of carbon black was about 8 million tons, and the output of carbon black was 4 million 800 thousand tons, which showed a significant decline compared with the same period last year. In 2020, the carbon black production capacity was about 4 million 800 thousand tons.

The export scale far exceeds the import scale

China is one of the world's major carbon black exporters. Since 2018, China's carbon black exports have decreased year by year. In 2020, China imported 87000 tons of carbon black, an increase of 12000 tons over 2019; The export volume was 662000 tons, a decrease of 150000 tons compared with 2019, a year-on-year decrease of 18.5%.

Apparent consumption fell for the first time in six years

Based on the calculation of China's carbon black output, import and export, China's apparent demand for carbon black increased continuously from 2015 to 2019, and decreased for the first time in nearly six years in 2020. In 2019, China's apparent demand for carbon black was 5.663 million tons, with a year-on-year increase of 15.0%; In 2020, China's apparent demand for carbon black was 4225000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 25.4%.

The production of black cats is far ahead

With the continuous impact of the national supply side reform and the tightening of environmental protection, the integration and elimination of backward production capacity have been accelerated, the carbon black market concentration has been further improved, and the market share of large carbon black enterprises is gradually expanding. Domestic large-scale carbon black production enterprises include black cat Co., Ltd., Longxing Chemical Co., Ltd., Yongdong Co., Ltd.

From the perspective of the output trend of head enterprises, black cat shares are still far ahead. In 2020, the carbon black output of black cat Co., Ltd. was 928100 tons, a decrease of 38000 tons compared with 2019; Longxing Chemical's carbon black output was 431900 tons, a decrease of 17400 tons compared with 2019.
